California was added to the United States as a state on September 9, 1850, and ever since its addition has seen popular attention from people looking for a new start. Nicknamed the “Golden State,” California is one of the most popular states in the U.S. California is the third-largest state in the country, the most populated state in the country, and the state with the most National Parks at nine! The state also has 280 state parks and state beaches. It is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean to the west, Arizona and Nevada to the east, Oregon to the north, and Mexico to the south.

Aside from the obvious natural beauty the Golden State has, it is also home to metropolitan cities such as Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco. The cities are home to museums, culture, and adrenaline-packed theme parks. Whether you want to explore the Redwoods to the north, the Mojave Desert to the east, kelp forests to the west, or some of the best beaches to the south. There will always be something for you to do in California.
